         Policies/Procedures
A parent/guardian should contact the Attendance Office for each absence.  Newly added to Family Access is the Absence Notification Request which allows parents/guardians to send a note by email through Family Access.

  • Students submitting a note from a doctor or dentist for a partial day will be considered present.
  • Students submitting a note from court will be considered present.
  • Students must sign out before leaving campus during the school day.
  • According to the Texas Education Code §25.092, a student must be in attendance 90% of the days a class is offered.  A student who misses a class more than 9 times in a semester is subject to loss of credit.
  • Seniors not meeting the attendance requirement will not participate in graduation ceremonies.

A tardy becomes an absence 16 minutes into the class period.   Students entering a class during the first 15 minutes after the tardy bell will not be considered absent, although unexcused tardies can lead to disciplinary action.

Attendance School make-up days will be offered for students with more than nine absences. Four-hour make-up days will be offered on pre-determined Saturdays from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon.   One four-hour attendance school will equal 1 school day.  Students will be charged an administrative fee of $10.00; no charge for students enrolled in the Free Lunch Program; $5.00 for those enrolled in the Reduced Lunch Price Program.  No shows will forfeit a paid registration fee.  Every student must pay or register for each Attendance School before-hand. Students must pre-register in the attendance office by 3:30 the Friday before they plan to attend.  If the fee creates a hardship and discourages the student from attending make-up days, parents may inquire with the student's assistant principal about waiver of the fee.  Students must bring homework or study work, and student ID.  Dress code and all student handbook guidelines apply.  Entry will not be allowed after 8:00 a.m.

  • Attendance School make-up dates:  Fall Semester - 10/20, 10/27, 11/03, 11/10, 11/17, 12/01, 12/08, 12/15.
  •                                                      Spring Semester - 3/30, 4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27, 5/04, 5/11, 5/18.
  • Additional attendance school options may be added and announced throughout the school year at the principal's or attendance committee's discretion.
