The purpose for the College Board Advanced Placement (Pre-AP/AP) courses is to prepare students for college work and/or AP exams that give students the opportunity to receive college credit.
Typically, successful Pre-AP/AP students are task oriented, proficient readers who are able to prioritize their time and have parental support.
Students taking a Pre-AP or AP English course (grades 7th-12th) during the 2011-2012 school year have required summer reading and writing assignments. Click HERE for instructions and grading policy for written portion. The assignments are due the first day of classes.
While students in Pre-AP or AP classes are encouraged to obtain their own copies of the summer novel so that they may annotate as they read, students may also visit the public libraries or follow the procedures for the campus they will attend in the fall in order to borrow a copy from their school.
