Saturday, October 24th
myFuture classes, provided by Texas Trust Credit Union, are free educational courses designed to
teach students necessary financial and life skills. All courses are designed for a teen to take with with
their parent(s). By the parent taking an active role in the course, they are showing their child how
important financial literacy is to their future. This makes the parent the role model, and a partner who
can relay the information back to the teen through experience. This creates a better atmosphere of
understanding.
The "First Ride" course takes the students through all the steps of finding, purchasing, and owning
your first car. The main points include:
• Understanding wants vs. needs in a first car
• Understanding the financing process
• The importance of knowing your budget
• The total cost of ownership
• Vehicle Maintenance
• Insurance Needs
• Responsible driving
Course attendees can also receive Down
Payment Assistance when they finance
their "First Ride" with Texas Trust.
